A new transmission line of 380 kV built to bring more energy in the Stavanger area (Norway)

A new transmission line of 380 kV built to bring more energy in the Stavanger area (Norway)

The project consists in a new transmission line of 380 kV built to bring more energy in the Stavanger area due to the increase of the consumes linked to the increase of the population in the city. The customer invited De Angeli Prodotti to participate to the tender because they needed special, resilient and high quality conductor to cross the 2,7 km long fjord. A conductor of Aluminum Alloy and Steel was designed and produced in our plant in Italy, one of the biggest ACSR ever produced in the factory with a diameter of 56,7 mm and a weight of 6,40 kg/m. To reduce the corona noise and the shining effect of the aluminum wires, we proposed a sandblasted conductor. The process of sandblasting is made internally in a special machine that, through some guns, sprays a specific sand on the conductor to reach a rough and clean external surface.

An installation of colored conductor in a wooded environment

An installation of colored conductor in a wooded environment

We have recently responded to the need of one of our customers by creating a colored conductor. The customer chose the green color to camouflage the new line installed without therefore impacting on the surrounding wooded environment. The result was truly amazing! The new line installed is practically invisible and is lost in the background, thus minimizing the visual environmental impact as required by the initial project specifications!

A 350 km line of ACCS-Sens conductor for Elia Belgium

A 350 km line of ACCS-Sens conductor for Elia Belgium

Starting from 2021, De Angeli Prodotti has supplied 350 km of ACCS-sens conductor to ELIA (the Belgian TSO), the works finished on Novembre 2022 and the conductor has been successfully installed. De Angeli Prodotti followed the entire stranding phase during the development of the conductor. In this case, carbon core technology was the only possible choice to update a line in which the conductor used was a conductor made entirely of aluminum alloy, i.e. a lighter conductor than other standard conductors (with steel core). The De Angeli Prodotti technicians carefully followed both the production of the conductor in the De Angeli Prodotti plant and the stranding in Belgium. The monitoring system (sens technology) helped the De Angeli Prodotti team to follow all the phases of installation and laying of the conductors; with this technology it is in fact possible to monitor in real time the stresses on the conductor along the entire length being tensioned.

ACCM conductor by De Angeli Prodotti: a revolution in cost-effective power transmission

ACCM conductor by De Angeli Prodotti: a revolution in cost-effective power transmission

In an era of rapidly evolving energy needs and environmental concerns, the field of power transmission is witnessing a remarkable transformation. De Angeli Prodotti, a distinguished industry leader, has been at the forefront of this revolution. Their groundbreaking High-Temperature Low Sag Conductor (ACCM) is redefining the landscape of power transmission, offering unparalleled efficiency and sustainability. In this analysis we compare a standard conductor made of aluminum and steel ACSR Ø 31,50 mm with an High Temperature Low Sag Conductor with a core made of stranded carbon wires ACCM Ø 31,52 mm (Aluminum Conductor Composite Multistrand) with trapezoidal wires. These two conductors have equivalent characteristics on diameters and weight (ACCM is -1,5% lighter than standard ACSR). Comparing the ampacity at continuous operating temperature you can see that the ACCM conductor is higher of +653 Amps that means +60% more than the standard ACSR. Taking in consideration the peak ampacity at 100°C for the ACSR and 175°C for the HTLS. In this case the ampacity of the ACCM conductor is still significantly higher than the Standard ACSR of + 599 Amps that means + 49% more.
