On 11 June, De Angeli Prodotti participated in the conference organized by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) entitled “International Conference on Environment and electrical engineering“, presenting an interesting article on the calculation and measurement of electrical resistance of bare conductors for overhead electrical lines in alternating current (AC).

It was a stimulating opportunity to present our work and to learn about new studies and new interests on which the world of scientific research in this field is focusing.

The article presented, entitled “AC Resistance Evaluation, Measurements and Savings of Innovative Bare Conductors” is in view of the ever increasing interest of European TSOs and not only, to have a value of resistance of the conductor in alternating current and not in direct current as instead required until today. The article presents both a calculation method and a measurement procedure in addition to the necessary equipment. The verification of the electrical resistance in AC places many more aspects to be analyzed and studied both from the point of view of the theoretical calculation and from the experimental point of view.

The knowledge of a precise value of resistance in alternating current for the conductors is relevant to accurately calculate the Joule losses on the electric lines, which then translate into CO2 emissions as well, obviously, to losses from the energy point of view.

De Angeli Prodotti is always ready to face new challenges from the point of view of research linked to technological development.
